ADEC was established in the year 2004 with the aim of improving societal and environmental development in Sanaag region. ADEC has experience in the implementation of livelihood and food security projects in the area with WFP. ADEC works protection which parallel with relief at field level activities. In addition,  ADEC works with Sanaag diaspora community for environment and social support to the affected population. ADEC provided a combination of short and long-term responses, lifesaving assistance, build resilience and create opportunities that support durable solutions. We also managed to meet the needs of communities affected by displacement saving lives and helping them rebuild their futures. The NGO is well known in Sanaag region as an active partner of WFP in the implementation of food security and livelihood projects and has high reputation. Since April 2016 ADEC has supported approximately 20,000 households in more than 30 project of relief, livelihood, skills training, human capital for safety nets intervention. Currently ADEC is implementing relief program in Badhan and Dhahar districts o covering 40 location in Sanaag region with 2,300 total number of beneficiaries supported through Cash based transfer. ADEC has the capacity to strengthen its programs and implement similar project with the other Somalia region.

ADEC has formal mechanisms for assessing internal and external factors that affect operations.

ADEC is one of the leading NGO who actively participate in the implementation of humanitarian projects in the region. The organization has genial relation relationship all stakeholders including donors, partners, and environmental activist and target communities.
Resource Development: The organization successfully secures support from a variety of sources to ensure that the organization’s revenues are diversified, stable, and sufficient for its operation. The resources available are well managed and budgeted to spend in the minimum cost to achieve maximum results.
Internal Operations and Management: The organization has efficient and effective operations, and strong management support systems. Financial operations are responsibly managed and reflect sound accounting principles. The organization utilizes information effectively for organizational and project management purposes.
